SUMMARY:TPA Tuesdays Symposium: Advancing Equitable Transportation Systems
DESCRIPTION:Access to transportation impacts lives and personal outcomes on
many levels. Insufficient access means people cannot reliably get to work
 \, school\, healthcare\, social services\, or other destinations. Governme
nt institutions must work to address the effects of past practices that pe
rpetuated racism and segregation. It’s no longer enough to go through th
e motions\; it’s time for a paradigm shift in which government leaders a
sk themselves how transportation policies and investments impact the syste
ms’ most vulnerable travelers. And\, decision-making must promote positi
ve change for everyone in every community. The second symposium in our TPA
Tuesdays series will feature transportation and planning thought leaders
who will explore the issue of advancing equitable transportation systems.\
